As a benchmark: under $2,500 per ton installed is cheap enough to be suspicious. $2,800 to $3,800 per ton is normal and fair. $4,000 to $5,000 per ton is the high end.

What moves the number
Two homes needing the same size system can land at different points on the range above. The usual reasons:
