A checkup that pays for itself in August
Almost nothing on an air conditioner fails without warning. A capacitor weakens gradually before it quits. A drain line narrows before it clogs solid. A coil loses efficiency slowly before it ices over on the hottest day of the year. A maintenance visit exists to catch that slow slide while it's still an easy fix, instead of finding out about it when the system is already down and the temperature outside is triple digits.
What actually gets checked
A real visit is mechanical, not a filter swap and a sticker. We test the parts most likely to fail under summer load, and every completed visit leaves our own service sticker on the equipment, so whoever opens the panel next, including us, knows exactly what was done and when.

On the checklist
Six things get tested, not just glanced at.
Coil condition
Both coils, cleaned and inspected. A dirty coil makes a healthy system work like a failing one.
Condensate drain and float switch
Cleared before it clogs, and the safety switch tested so it actually shuts the system off when it should.
Refrigerant charge
Checked against the equipment's spec, not just topped off if it looks low.
Electrical connections
Terminals, capacitor and contactor checked for wear, corrosion and heat damage before any of them fail outright.
Blower and airflow
Filter, blower wheel and duct airflow, since a system can be mechanically perfect and still underperform on airflow alone.
Thermostat calibration
Confirmed it's reading and calling correctly, not just that it turns the system on.
Why twice a year, here
The spring visit is the one that actually matters in Tomball.
Most of the country gets a mild stretch between heating season and cooling season. This area barely does. Cooling runs for the better part of eight months, so a spring visit, done before the real heat sets in, is the one with the best chance of finding a weak part while it's still cheap and easy to replace. A second visit in the fall catches what the summer wore down and gets the heating side checked before the one week a year it's actually needed.
Most summer failures don't come out of nowhere. They show up as a slightly longer run time, a slightly higher bill, or a faint smell that goes unnoticed for months, until the day the system just stops. A maintenance visit is built to catch exactly that stretch, while it's still just a symptom and not yet a breakdown.
